Quan The Am Festival to Take Place from 25 to 27 March

The People’s Committee of Ngu Hanh Son District recently reported that the Quan The Am (Goddess of Mercy) Festival 2016 will take place at Ngu Hanh Son District’s Quan The Am Pagoda, the Marble Mountains Tourist Area, from 25 to 27 March (the 17th to 19th of the 2nd lunar month).

This year’s festival will feature numerous solemn Buddhist rituals including the traditional offerings and preaching sessions, a solemn ritual to wish for peace, happiness and prosperity throughout the year, and the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva Statue procession. 

In addition, there will be a wide range of exciting cultural and sporting activities including a poetry and music exchange, the floating of flower garlands and coloured lanterns as well as a traditional boat race on the Co Co River, ‘bai choi’ (singing while acting as playing cards), a Chinese chess competition, contemporary calligraphy, martial arts performances, the art of flower arranging, a tea ceremony and Zen tea, plus an Olympiad Day Run for Public Health for runners from the district’s organisations and agencies.

During the 3-day event, the Buddhist Cultural Museum at the Pagoda will be open for those who want to admire its valuable Buddhist antiques.
